This is a website with a little taste of scary short stories and scripts. I chose a fan fiction of “Children of the Corn” and an old script to “The Addams Family” movie. I choose to do a black and white piece with minimal colors, because I think that it helps make the art work dark and dreary. It goes with the flow of how the stories are visually presented but maybe not written. These excerpts are happy though, now having never watched “Children of the Corn” I do not actually know a whole lot about it, but the trailer aspect of reading this little excerpt would help someone decide if they did want to ever watch it.
The concept for this to create movie trailers in a sense but for books. so an interactive site that showed little snippets of a book or a movie. with “The Addams Family” I grabbed an old script, now if no one had seen the movie how they perceived the script and the actions carried out would be their own personal little play in their heads. Which to that person is art.
The “Children of the Corn” is also similar, the movie is old enough that it is more of a cult fan fiction then a more relative movie. so if a younger person were to stumble upon a fan written version of it online they would think it was an amazing read.
Being able to picture a story in your head and make it come alive is something I want to help with.Wanted to be able to show someone a little excerpt of some fan fiction like on the backside of a book.
Reading is an art form in itself. Because every one will imagine a character and the setting differently then the person reading it right next to them. The same tends to be the same for when people are looking at paintings, especially an abstract one. One person might see a dog and another might see a cloud but all you know is that the tittle is called “Fluffy”. To get a person to read and be interested in reading is another beautiful work of art. it is truly masterful when you hear that someone has be touched from reading a good book and being inspired from it.
This piece was created using entirely HTML and CSS code. I was starting to spend too much time trying to get the javascript to work and not enough time on the rest of the piece. I stuck to what i knew. The “eye” div boxes i created using the border radius command to give it that oval like shape. to make it work out the best. The Javascript wasn’t working out too well so instead I spent more time working on getting layout and the design for everything put together.
